The Truman Show is shown to be a movie which represents how much people want to have a perfect Utopian environment which is what the creator of the show, Christof is trying to prove. Raising Truman in such environment to make Truman think that this world is perfect which is Christof is trying to get across to his audience. Sadly the world is not perfect as it depicts in the show. Christof is sort of an creator who makes Truman's world perfect and to prevent him from seeing the real world which he describes as "terrible" in the movie. Christof controls mainly everything that occurs in the show which kind of makes him seems like a god.
