Blog 17 - Guilty Crown

Source

Recently I have been watching this anime called Guilty Crown, I only watched it for my own enjoyment but as I think about deeply and I noticed that it has some philosophical connections that we have learned in philosophy class. Guilty Crown takes place in the future where everything is advanced in Japan. Apparently a virus that infected everyone in Japan similar to the black death occured on Christmas which they called "Lost Christmas". The main character, Shu Ouma had lived a regular life before he met Inori Yuzuriha. She was part of the Funeral Parlor which is a group that was rebelling against GHQ which was the organization that cured the virus that occurred on "Lost Christmas". Apparently they developed a way to be to control human genomes, and only 3 doses was made. This is how Shu got involved with the group by accidentally gets injected by one of it and people who gets injected by it gains a new power and is known as a King that can extract people's voids which tools or weapons that are the manifestations of people's hearts. He denies it similar to Neo from The Matrix that he would be the one to save people from another virus that would occur again. He denies his potential and as the story goes on he believes in himself because of Gai, who helped him realized his potential like what Morpheus did for Neo. He would later then go through the same stages like Neo did. The Enlightenment stage where in the end he used his powers to the best of his abilities and save Japan.
